Weekend Wisdom: Juggling everything makes it impossible to enjoy anything.
Something you probably don’t know about me is that I have pretty major dental anxiety. It took me a long time to find a dentist I trusted. When I did find one, I stayed with his practice for 15 years (or more) until he recently closed his business. Finding a new dentist has been a challenge and very stressful.
I can be calm in almost any situation but not at the dentist. I know how to soothe my nervous system, but I forget at the dentist. If you have something like this too, where the calming tricks don’t work I have so much compassion for you. My only advice (and the only thing that helps me) is to give yourself lots of space after the stressful thing. Go home, lie down and watch your favorite movie while your body and brain release the tension. P.S. If you live in Salt Lake City and love your gentle dentist, please let me know.
